NEW HAVEN, Conn., April 11. - The excitement here is intense. The streets are crowded with people who are clamoring after extras. The national flag is flying. The City Grays are holding a meeting in anticipation of receiving a call to duty. The indignation against the rebels is universal.

1872 - DESTRUCTIVE CONFLAGRATION AT AYER. ALL THE BUSINESS PART OF THE PLACE DESTROYED.
Ayer, Mass., April 14.
A fire broke out in the building owned by SAMUEL REED, at 11:30 last evening, destroying all the buildings on the north side of Main street between the Worcester and Nashua Railroad and the Lowell freight depot.
All the business portion of the place is destroyed. Not a grocery or a dry good store remains. The loss is estimated at from $100,000 to $200,000.

1941 - THREE DIE IN PLANE CRASH.
Binghamton, N.Y. - DAN McNALLY, a Baltimore evangelist, his wife and four-year-old daughter, KITTY were killed when their private airplane crashed at Tri-Cities airport and burst into flames on a takeoff.
Coroner S. C. McManis said the plane lost speed and nosed down at the end of the runway. The plane exploded as it struck, he said.
