1866 Fire at Charlestown
BOSTON, Monday, Dec. 17. A fire in Charlestown last night destroyed the wooden building at the corner of High and Pearl streets, formerly occupied as a Methodist Church. Loss, $10,000. The Armory of the Prescott Light Horse Guard, a school-room and several offices in the building were burned out.

1869 Not long ago a merchant in Munich bought from a peasant a wagon load of hay, paying for it by weight.
When the wagon was about to be unloaded the head of the seller's son appeared on top. The buyer cried out that he had bought the young scamp too, and therefore could do as he liked with him, and began to beat him. The father of the boy came to the rescue, and the fight grew to such proportions that the police took the peasant, his son, the buyer and the wagon load of hay into custody.
