    1950 - LIGHTNING KILLS MAN AT GRAFTON.


    Worcester, Mass., July 13 (AP) - Lightning killed one man and found its mark on at least five structures in a brief but severe electrical storm that struck Western Massachusetts last night.

    The victim was ROSCOE H. REED, 45, father of seven children who was struck while seeking shelter under a tree in Grafton. He had been fishing in Ripple Pond.

    One-year-old ELAINE CORDIO was followed by lightning but escaped two separate bolts unhurt.

    1912  Three Dead in Storm
    Minneapolis, Minn., July 13. - Three persons are dead and thirteen injured and a property loss of $100,000 was caused by one of the most severe storms in years which raged over Hennepin and Ramsey counties (Minneapolis and St. Paul) last night. The dead are: Ralph Gillette, aged 30, killed by lightning at the Inter lochen Golf links; Mrs. Alma Frayer, and Mary Bergman, of Ellsworth, Wis., killed in the collapse of a barn Scores were injured, several seriously.

    Hagerstown - Mrs. Benj. Lewis had a narrow escape from being seriously burned at her home. She struck a match to light an oil stove and the head of the match flew off lodging in her hair. In an instant her hair was (was) ablaze, but Mrs. Lewis with rare presence of mind grabbed a wet cloth and threw it over her head extinguishing the fire. Her hair was considerably singed and one side of her face slightly burned.
