    Kansas City, Aug. 7 (AP) - MILDRED KAUFFMAN, 25-year-old Kansas City aviatrix, was injured probably fatally, and RUSSELL SHAW, her passenger, received a severe head injury when MISS KAUFFMAN'S plane locked wings with another at an altitude of 75 feet above Fairfax Airport here tonight.     Tuesday was hotter than the previous day by at least four degrees. The mercury reached about 101 degrees in the shade, and all the way from 115 to 132 degrees in the sun.     A large gasoline launch used on Waupaca lakes was destroyed by fire at Indian crossing on the lakes Sunday afternoon.     1907  THREE DROWNED.
    NEWTON, N. J., Aug. 8. - JAMES JOHNSON, 21 of Jersey City; HARRIET SLINKARD, 16, and HELEN BLOOMER, 18, both of Brooklyn, were drowned while bathing in the lake here. With a girl on either arm Johnson was clinging to a raft moored near the shore in what was supposed to be water reaching to their waists. Suddenly one of the girls screamed and the three bathers sand together. The bodies were recovered.

    Massachusetts Resort Was to Have Been Auctioned to Satisfy Claims. FALMOUTH, Mass., Aug. 7. - The Maravista Hotel, in course of construction at Falmouth Heights, was burned to the ground early to-day under mysterious circumstances. The building was to have been sold at auction to-day to satisfy the claims of Timothy Bourne, the contractor. It was valued at $15,000, and was insured. The structure was owned by the Falmouth Land Company.
