    Officials investigating the happening believed that a kerosene explosion caused the fire.

    WATERBURY, Vt., May 16 (AP) - An acute milk shortage unless prices were advanced, was the prediction of representatives of 12 proprietary and three cooperative creameries, meeting here to discuss the current dairy problem.

    The dairymen said the price of milk paid producers should be advanced one cent a quart at once, if the shortage was to be averted. Grain and feed prices have advanced, they said, and the milk production was under normal for this season.

    Hornellsville, N. Y., May 13 - A bad wreck took place on the western division of the Erie three miles west of here. Fast freight No. 92 was thrown in the ditch by a broken wheel, and ten cars were piled up in a confused heap. The accident occurred when the train was making fast time, and the cars were on that account completely shattered.

    Nantucket, Mass., May 16. - The 43,000-ton liner Olympic, groping its way through a heavy fog, crashed broadside into the Nantucket Lightship Tuesday. Seven of the lightship's crew were either killed outright or were missing. The lightship sank.

    Three men found by the Olympic's lifeboats died of their injuries. Four others were missing.
