On October 5, 1892, the notorious Dalton Gang attempted to carry out a daring bank robbery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Comprised of brothers Bob, Grat, and Emmett Dalton, along with two other accomplices, the gang planned to simultaneously rob two banks in broad daylight. While the Georgetown steamer was playing, Henry Mack, who was assisting in holding the nozzle, for a moment had his attentions called off, during which in some way the hose turned bringing the stream of water in his face, inflicting a painful injury upon his left eye. It was feared at first that the sight was destroyed, but it will probably be restored. He was attended by Dr. Roy.

SANDWICH, Mass., Oct. 4.- Mrs. Sally Ransted, widow of the late John Ransted, aged 80, and an invalid, was burned to death today, her clothing taking fire from an open grate. She was alone in the house at the time, and it is supposed that she fell upon the fire during an apoplectic fit.
