    1910 - SIX PERSONS DEAD. TWENTY-SIX INJURED IN ACCIDENT AT KALAMAZOO. FAST TRAIN CRASHED INTO A LOADED STREET CAR. CONDUCTOR SIGNALED CAR AHEAD AT THE CROSSING AND ENGINE HIT IS SQUARELY - MANY BADLY MANGLED.


    Kalamazoo, Mich., Nov. 13. - Six persons are dead and twenty-six injured, four of whom, it is thought will die as the result of a street car on the Kalamazoo City Lines of the Michigan United Railways company being run down last night by a fast westbound express train on the Michigan Central Railroad. All of the dead and injured were passengers on the street car.

    Des Moines - FRANK MERRIAM, aged 25, and E. R. CAMPBELL, aged 22, were asphyxiated by illuminating gas in their room at 1435 West Locust Street. The double tragedy, from all appearances, was accidental. The gas jet, which worked very loosely, had been left partly open, apparently in the act of turning it off carelessly.

    Three Men Killed and Several Others Injured in a Wreck.

    A frightful wreck occurred on the New York, Ontario and Western Railroad, at seven o'clock a few nights ago, at a point in Pennsylvania between Carbondale and Mayfield.

    An engine, while trying to make a switch, crashed into a passenger train going in an opposite direction at full speed.

    1894  Attempt to Wreck a Train
    MALONE, N.Y., Nov. 14. - Facts have just come to light which show that an attempt was made to wreck a train on the Central Vermont railroad bewteen Chateauguay and Churubusco recently. A large number of ties were piled across the rails at one of the worst places possible for a wreck to occur. An engine smashed into the obstruction, but did not leave the rails, although it was badly damaged.
