1942 December 1 – Gasoline rationing begins in the United States.
License Numbers To Be on Coupons When individuals obtain their basic "A" gasoline rationing book, they must write their license number and states in which the automobile was registered on the back of each mileage ration coupon in ink, officials at the Denton County War Price and Ration Board said Tuesday. This will make the coupons valueless to anyone except the owner, and if the coupon book is lost or stolen, it can be more easily traced, it was explained.
