Brattleboro, Nov. 19--Albert Clement, employed by Charles Walker, of Dummerston, fell from a ferry boat into the Connecticut river last night and was drowned. Clement had been to the "Jack" Allen resort in Chesterfield, N. H., across the river from Dummerston, and was returning when a companion saw him fall into the river, but was powerless to aid him. J., Nov. 18. - With a toll of two known dead, and four missing, fire which destroyed the Bothwell Hotel and its annex, formerly the Senator, last night and for a time threatened many fine residences was burning itself out today. It was believed that danger of the flames spreading has been averted.
Nothing but the walls of the hotel remained and the casino on the famous steel pier was practically wrecked. The loss is estimated at $1,500,000.

On November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered a short speech at the end of the ceremonies dedicating the battlefield cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. That speech has come to be known as the Gettysburg Address. In it, Lincoln paid tribute to the Union soldiers who sacrificed their lives for union and equality. Lincoln had no idea at the time how famous his short speech would become.

PROVIDENCE, Thursday, Nov. 17. - A fire in Pawtucket this afternoon destroyed the Congregational church, John Dexter's dwelling-house, two stables, a storehouse, a paint-shop, and other buildings. Loss about $40,000. The church and organ were insured for $10,000.

The Church at Vercheres, in the vicinity of Montreal, has been destroyed by lighting. 1800 pounds sterling, of the property, we understand, were insured in the Phoenix Company.
