    1936 - SAY DUBOIS MINER DEAD AS RESCUERS WORK IN CAVE-IN.


    DUBOIS, PA., Mar. 12. - Rescue workers reported Lee Selner, 32-year-old miner, died today - nearly 18 hours after he had been trapped under tons of slate in a mine.

    The victim called to his rescuers during the night while relays worked to save him but he was silent this morning.

    The collapse occurred yesterday afternoon. A second cave-in, early this morning, threatened the rescuers.

    Mrs. John Loraine, 462 Elizabeth street, is dead following four days of terrible suffering, as a result of burns, sustained Thursday morning when in attempting to revive a fire she mistook a can of gasoline for kerosene, poured it on the smouldering embers in a cook stove, causing an explosion, which inflicted deep burns over her entire body, which resulted in here death at St. Joseph's hospital shortly before 4 o'clock Sunday morning.

    Chicago, March 11 - (AP) - The ranks of engine companies numbers three and six were depleted late today when an explosion killed one fireman and seriously injured ten other, two probably fatally.

    They had controlled a fire in the plant of the Daigger Chemical Company, just outside the downtown district, when a terrific explosion occurred and was followed by several of lesser degree.
